Dizziness and Vertigo

Start Acupuncture and Stop Spinning

Vertigo is a common condition that can be debilitating, often without any answers. Vertigo may involve dizziness, lightheadedness, loss of balance, a feeling of spinning, ringing in the ears (tinnitus), nausea or even vomiting. It often worsens with certain positions. It accounts for around 4% of all emergency room visits. Inner ear issues, such as frequent ear infections, Meniere’s disease, vestibular neuritis, or even head injuries and medications can cause dizziness and vertigo. When there is no cause found, it’s often called Benign Paroxysmal Vertigo. It is a diagnosis that often offers little treatment or relief, and medications often have significant side effects. It is also the most common long term side effect from Covid, or "Long Haul Covid."

Thankfully, acupuncture is a great tool to help manage vertigo and dizziness. Many studies support the evidence on using acupuncture for dizziness and vertigo, even acutely in the Emergency Room. With acupuncture, we may assess any tension in the neck that could be causing inner ear issues, emotions, sleep and diet. We often use acupuncture, cupping/gua sha and Chinese herbal medicine to treat vertigo.
