Have you tried castor oil yet? It may be the hottest trend in beauty, but it is really a secret dating back to ancient Egypt.

Castor Oil can be used topically for a variety of conditions. It can help skin, both moisturizing, minimizing wrinkles and even reduce scarring. We love these Rose Quartz Roller Balls, they reduce the mess and make it easy to spot treat.

It can be used over various tissues. We commonly recommend use over the abdomen with heat for a variety of women's health concerns including painful periods, PMS, and endometriosis. It can also be helpful to use after abdominal surgery like Cesarean sections, gallbladder removal, bowel obstructions, appendectomy, or laparoscopy.

We may also recommend the use of castor oil for thyroid nodules (when pathology has been ruled out). These types of nodules are particularly common as women age, starting in the perimenopausal time.

While castor oil has a variety of benefits, it is important to note that we do not recommend for use during pregnancy, until the patient is over 37 weeks, as it can stimulate uterine contractions. If you are trying to conceive, we don't recommend use during the second half of your menstrual cycle, or days 14-28 if you are having "regular" cycles. It can be a part of labor preparation, possibly orally, although this will cause bowel movements.
